9/6/2019 · In evolutionary biology, the phenomenon of an organism influencing its environment, sometimes by modifying the behavior of other organisms, is known as the extended phenotype. Richard Dawkins wrote a book of that name (as a follow-up of The Selfish Gene ) where he describes this mechanism as an extreme example of the so-called selfishness of genes.
Not quite the same thing, but there’s been a few attempts to make journals dedicated to negative results. The Journal of Negative Results in Biomedicine ran for about 15 years before folding in 2017. The Journal of Negative Results – Ecology & Evolutionary Biology was active for a while, but their last publication seems to be 2018, so I don’t know what the current status is.
