Paul Guiragossian: Displacing Modernity Paul Guiragossian (1926–1993) is one of the most influential artists to emerge from the Arab World in the 20th century. Born to Armenian parents, survivors of the Armenian Genocide, he experienced the consequences of exile, first as a child, and later as a young refugee from Jerusalem arriving in Beirut in the late 1940s.
I got to know him from many different angles, and my fascination led me to publish the monograph “ Paul Guiragossian: Displacing Modernity ” that was just released. I had to share all my discoveries with the rest of the world. If you know more about him, his art will have a greater impact on you.
